Request Your Estimate
Four short fields. We read each one ourselves, then book the roofer's visit.
Your request goes to an independent local roofing company, and that company makes the visit, writes the estimate and does any work. See our Referral Marketing Disclosure.
When Your Plano Roof Has Reached Its End
Plano grew from 17,872 people in 1970 to 222,030 in 2000, according to the Handbook of Texas. Many houses from that rush now sit under a second or third roof, and plenty of those are tiring again.
Most homes here wear composition shingles, and many in west Plano are two stories with busy rooflines that take careful measuring. When you want a real price, we take your request and book the roofer's visit.

From Request to Roof Inspection
- Send the form. Share your name, your town and what you've spotted on the roof. It costs nothing.
- We follow up. We answer questions about City permits and costs, then pick a time for the visit.
- A local roofing pro visits. The inspection is the roofer's: shingles, decking and attic, plus measurements and photos.
- The roofer writes the estimate. The price arrives on paper, item by item, for you to weigh when you're ready.

When Patching Stops Making Sense
Most roofs give warning first. Look from the yard, the gutters and the attic.
- Curled or cracked tabs. Years of Texas summer sun bake shingles until the edges lift and split.
- Grit at the downspouts. Washed-out granules mean the shingles are wearing thin.
- Bruises after a hailstorm. Dark, soft spots on shingles or dings in vents can point to hail damage.
- A ring on the ceiling. A brown stain or damp attic insulation means water has found a way in.
- The same repair, again. Patching one spot every spring can cost more than it saves.

A Quick Read on Your Roof
Not sure it's time? Our repair-or-replace quiz asks five short questions and hands you a rough answer to bring to the visit. Only someone standing on the roof can settle it.
Storm Roofs Without the Pressure
Late on the evening of March 23, 2016, two Plano corners took golf-ball hail (1.75 inches), according to National Weather Service storm reports: Park Boulevard at Preston Road, and Alma Drive at 15th Street. Close to Spring Creek Parkway and Alma Drive, penny to half-dollar stones came down for about ten minutes.
Early on May 28, 2024, NWS reports listed a 2-foot-diameter tree and light poles down at Legacy Drive and Independence Parkway, and two houses damaged by fallen trees near Parker Road and Independence Parkway. Spring is the main hail season around Plano, and April tends to be the busiest month.
There's no reason to rush after a storm. Take photos from the ground first. A roofer can document damage and write an estimate; your insurance company decides the claim. The storm and hail damage page has more.

What Drives the Price of a Roof
These published figures come from home-cost sites, not from us, and they aren't a bid. The roofer writes the real number.
| Cost row | Figure | Source (year) |
|---|---|---|
| Plano architectural shingles, per sq ft | about $4.50 to $7.00 | RoofVista (2025) |
| Texas Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, per sq ft | about $5.40 to $8.64 | RoofVista (2025) |
| Texas metal roofing, per sq ft | about $9.55 | This Old House (2026) |
| Texas clay tile, per sq ft | about $14.79 | This Old House (2026) |
Steep or complex rooflines, an extra old layer, rotted decking and materials an HOA requires all nudge a job toward the top of a range. Our roof cost calculator turns four answers into a planning range, and the cost guide explains each line of an estimate.
Why Use This Service

For Plano Homes and Neighborhoods
Plano TX Roof Replacement exists for one reason: a clear, written roof price shouldn't take weeks of searching and waiting. We write about the roofs that are really here and the rules that cover them, like the attic check the City builds into every final roof inspection.
Here's how it works. You send the request, and we answer your questions and set up the visit. A local roofing pro looks at the roof before any price comes up, then puts it in writing. Asking costs nothing.

Questions Worth Asking
Does it cost anything to send a request?
No, and sending it doesn't commit you to hiring anyone. Many roofers will look at a roof and write up an estimate at no charge, but ask before the visit so nothing comes as a surprise. Nobody should offer you a gift or reward for signing, either.
Does a roof replacement in Plano need a permit?
Yes. The City's re-roof certification form says a roof permit is required on all re-roof projects, and the final inspection includes a look in the attic. Small repairs may not need a permit; ask Building Inspections. Agree with your roofer on who pulls the permit, and ask to see it.
Does Texas license roofers?
Not at the state level; a 2025 bill to license reroofing contractors died. Plano does require a roofing company to hold a City general contractor registration before its roof permit can be issued. Ask the roofer for the permit itself and proof of liability insurance.
Can the roofer deal with my insurance company for me?
No. Your insurance company decides your claim, and under Texas law only a public adjuster licensed by TDI can represent you; the roofer doing the work can't. The roofer can record the damage with photos and notes and hand you a written estimate.
Do Class 4 shingles lower my insurance bill?
They may. TDI says a Class 4 roof covering, tested to UL 2218, earns the highest premium credit an insurer offers, but each insurer sets the amount, so ask yours. No Plano rule requires impact-resistant shingles.
